The district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, has exciting news for everyone interested in culture! As part of the extraordinary KISR project - art in the city center Leipziger Straße, the event series "To Guest at ..." starts and brings a breath of fresh air to the Berlin art scene. There are three exciting dates in November and December on the program that give a look behind the scenes of life on Leipziger Strasse.
Prepare yourself for inspiring insights! The event invites residents and actors on Leipziger Straße to share their everyday life and their personal connection to the city. So art is not only shown, but also lived and experienced.
A journey through the urban development history
On November 7th, the former city planner Algisa Peschel will open her doors. But what can we expect there? A private apartment in one of the complete well-thought-out residential complexes of the GDR modernity! Discover with her as it is to live in such a representative building. On the occasion, the exciting rumor is also taken up that some of these official apartments may have been bugged. Is this really the fabric made from which GroßstadtSagen are made of? The event is accompanied by a mini exhibition of the Mitte Museum, which brings up the urban history.
Important to know: The appointment is on November 7, 2024, from 4.30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Registration is necessary at leipzigerstrasse@poligonal.de. The exact address is available after registration!
Art and discussion in the Galerie Klemm’s
Attention art lovers! On November 14th, the Klemm’s gallery will be a stage for exciting conversations. A non-conformist area of tension unfolds between the hectic six-lane city highway and the imposing 25-story residential buildings. Here, where you don't necessarily suspect art and culture, the exhibition "Jan Groover / The 30s X 40S" is brought to life by a curator tour. Afterwards, a discussion round invites you to explore Leipziger Straße as an emerging art and cultural location.
The date for this is on November 14, 2024, from 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Address: Leipziger Straße 58, 10117 Berlin.
But the monument East Modernue is also illuminated! On December 4, an expert panel takes place, which puts the unpleasant, often marginalized buildings in the right light. Demolished buildings mean loss of building culture and social perspectives. Here it is discussed how this unique legacy can be recognized and preserved.
Do not miss this appointment: December 4, 2024, from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m., Leipziger Straße 47, 10117 Berlin.
The Berlin office Poligonal, which is behind the KISR supporting program, has set itself the goal of artistically researching the interfaces between urban life and architecture. You can expect a varied program from performative city explorations to curatorial projects to urban transformation.
