Artist Christof Zwiener invites you to the opening event of the Gertraudenhain project

The district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, informs about the project "Gertraudenhain" by the Berlin artist Christof Zwiener as part of KISR - art in urban space on Leipziger Strasse. The "Gertraudenhain" is intended to represent sculptural intervention that is created in the middle of a contaminated urban space in Berlin-Mitte. The Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki and his reforestation concept Tiny Forest should help create a new microclimate that will be felt in the summer of 2025 at the latest. The neighborhood is actively involved in the design and care of the "Gertraudenhain" in order to promote an exchange of urban development, sustainability, art and culture.

On March 20, 2024, an information event will take place in the Kieztreff Leipziger Straße, in which the artist and Tiny Forest expert Caspar Möller present the project. Particular attention is paid to the integration of the neighborhood, which is supposed to create changes for a downtown life worth living in and more biodiversity. The facility of the "Gertraudenhain" is planned for the beginning of April, in which students from the neighborhood will plant the tree seedlings together with experts.

The “Gertraudenhain” project is realized as part of KISR - art in the urban space on Leipziger Straße and financed by the federal program “Sustainable inner cities and centers” of the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building.

A table with information on comparable projects in other cities could compare the initiatives on the subject of city greening and would be a sensible addition to the contribution.
