Municipal alliances against racism and hatred: Berlin district of Mitte selected as model municipalities
The district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, has announced that right -wing extremist and racist motivated hostility, hatred or even violence have increased against employees in cities and municipalities. For this reason, the project "Local Alliances and Strategies against Racism and Hate - together strengthen decision -makers" starts to support the local municipalities and employees. The Office for Continuing Education and Culture of the District Office Mitte of Berlin is one of ten selected model municipalities in Germany that take part in this project.
The increase in right -wing extremist activities and racist hostile is an alarming trend that can be observed not only in Berlin, but also in other German cities and municipalities. In view of this development, it is crucial that the local authorities and employees are able to react appropriately to this challenge.
The project "Municipal Alliances and Strategies against Racism and Hate" aims to strengthen the decision -makers on site in order to develop and implement effective measures against right -wing extremists and racist activities. By participating in the project, the model municipalities are given the opportunity to learn proven practices and exchange knowledge in order to actively combat racism and hatred in their communities.
The selection of the district office Mitte of Berlin as one of the ten model municipalities underlines the relevance of the topic in the capital and shows that the local authorities are ready to take concrete steps to combat racism and hatred.
The Federal Government's integration and anti-racism officer plays a central role in supporting model municipalities by offering resources, training and exchange opportunities to strengthen the competence of the municipal decision-makers.
It is hoped that participation in the project will help to develop effective strategies and measures in Germany to develop racist and right -wing extremist activities in their communities.
