Commitment to the community: Four deserved citizens from Mitte

In a solemn ceremony on July 15, 2024, four committed citizens from the Mitte district were awarded the 2023 District Medal for their remarkable use for the community.

Angelika Krüger: Use against racism and for democracy

Angelika Krüger, member of the local group in the middle of the "Grandma against Right", has been tirelessly committed to free democracy since 2020. Through actions in Berlin-Mitte, participation in climateemonstrations as "grandma's for future" and counter-protests against right-wing extremists, she actively shows her resistance to racism and for democratic coexistence.

Renate Gebler: Child and Educational Engagement in Wedding

For over 50 years, Renate Gebler has been passionate about the free development of children in Berlin Wedding. As a co-founder of the parent initiative daycare center (EKT) Schillerpark and reading patdo at the Anna-Lindh School, she shapes alternative educational approaches and is committed to contemporary educational institutions. Ms. Gebler is also politically active and fought for the preservation of the Rehberge Volkspark.

Hans-Georg Rennert: Heart of together in the district (GIS) e.v.

Hans-Georg Rennert, the heart and soul of GIS e.V., was significantly involved in the construction of the Sprengelhaus. He has been moderating the round table of Sprengelkiez for around 20 years and was involved in the neighborhood for diverse projects. As a contact for many concerns in Sprengelkiez, he was an important support for the community.

Tobias Wolf: Engagement in drug and search help at Leopoldplatz

Tobias Wolf is characterized by his extraordinary commitment to drug and search help on Leopoldplatz. As a trusting contact person, he successfully cooperates with various players and ensures important care and advisory services despite difficult conditions. Its use in spontaneous crisis management and flexible solutions on Leopoldplatz is invaluable.
