Fair center: Action -rich week for climate justice & fair trade in Mitte
The district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, announces that the "Mitte Fair & Sustainable" campaign alliance has put together a varied program for the fair week 2024. Under the motto "Middle Fair. And no more degrees!" everything about air conditioning and fair trade will be discussed from the 13th to 27th September.
The various events offer citizens the opportunity to deal with important topics such as colonial continuities in fair trade, the preservation of the rainforest in the Amazon, sustainable clothing and fair trade in different regions. Among other things, interested parties can take part in actions such as a clothing exchange, an info brunch or various workshops.
The "Mitte Fair & Sustainable" campaign alliance is made up of representatives of associations, organizations, politics, administration and local economy. Regular meetings serve to exchange and plan joint actions. Interested parties who would like to get involved can contact Fairtrade@ba-mitte.berlin.de by email.
The fair week, which has been taking place for over 20 years, invites you to events around fair trade every year in September. With around 2,000 actions, it is the largest action week of fair trade in Germany.
The project is financed by means of the “District Fund to promote development cooperation” of the State Office for Development Cooperation with the Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Companies as well as funds from the Mitte district office.
Further information on the events during the fair week can be found on the website of municipal development policy. The press office of the Mitte district at press@ba-mitte.berlin.de is available for media inquiries.
