Fair week 2024: Amazon exhibition in Mitte reveals climate secrets

The district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, announced that in cooperation with the Action Group Solidarian World e.V. (ASW), the district office Mitte will present the open-air exhibition "Amazon-the largest rainforest on earth and we" as part of the fair week 2024. This exhibition, which takes place from September 18 to October 15, 2024, aims to raise awareness of the importance of the Amazon rainforest for the global climate and to draw attention to current threats as well as future -oriented projects. Visitors get an insight into the situation of indigenous population groups and see the connections between local events and global processes.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on September 18 at 2:30 p.m. on the Dorothea Schlegel-Platz at S-Bahnhof Friedrichstrasse. As special guests from Amazonia, activist Alessandra Korap Munduruku, the head Jairo Saw Munduruku and Marquinho Mota, project coordinator from Faor - Fórum da Amazônia Oriental.

For school classes and groups of 12 or more people, free tours and discussions on the topic are offered in the period from September 19 to October 15, 2024. Interested parties can register at Marek.burmeister@aswnet.de.

The exhibition was launched by the "Berlin Active in the Climate Alliance" initiative and is carried out in cooperation with the coordination of municipal development policy of the Mitte district. The Senate Department for the Environment, Transport and Climate Protection Berlin and the North-Süd-Brücken Foundation support the project.
