Successful negotiations: saving youth and family help secured

The district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, and the city council for youth, family and health, Christoph Keller, are pleased to be able to announce that the Senate Finance Administration has approved some alternative proposals from the Mitte district for savings in the new double budget 2024/2025. This means that the feared closures of youth clubs, leisure facilities and senior institutions as well as the layoffs will not take place in the free carriers.

In the past few weeks, the Mitte district had protested against the impending savings together with those directly affected and presented the special financial circumstances of the Mitte district in direct contact with the finance senator. The Senate's savings in the amount of more than 13 million euros would have led to drastic measures, but the negotiation success of the Middle District Success now is that a significant part of the savings may be taken from investment means that cannot flow in construction projects.

The district mayor Stefanie Remlinger expressed her joy about success: "All areas will nevertheless be asked to provide savings - but feared in a completely different size than at the end of last year. I am very pleased."

City councilor Christoph Keller also showed relieved about the rescue of the children's and youth leisure facilities, family centers and school stations: "This ensures basic care for young people and families in the Mitte district. What would have meant closures in the past few days and weeks may have only been really aware of it in the past few days and weeks."

The district office Mitte is now turning to representatives of the youth institutions, schools, the district parent committee and the youth welfare committee of the Mitte district in order to thank you for their support during the protests and to apologize for the stress phase.

This decision has direct effects on the local community, especially on families, children and young people in the Mitte district, which can now continue to count on the support and offers of youth and family help. These facilities play an important role in the support of the young people and families of the Mitte district and are therefore of great importance for the community.

Here are some facts in the form of a table that show the financial effects of the success of the negotiation:

| | Previous savings | Current savings |
| ———————— | ———————— | ——————— |
| Investment means | Not used | Partially used |
| Budgets of the facilities Drastic savings | Lower savings |

The decision of the Senate Finance Administration has thus contributed to the fact that the financial burdens for the Mitte district were reduced and basic care for families, children and adolescents is still guaranteed.
