Discover the water buffalo: Nature care on the Tegeler Fließ

observations on the Tegeler flower: an adorable excursion with diploma biologist

Next Sunday, July 14, 2024, nature and animal lovers have the opportunity to take part in a fascinating excursion. Organized by the Mitte environmental shop, the tour offers the chance to observe five water buffalos in its natural environment on the Tegeler river. The qualified biologist Gunter Martin will lead the group and give interesting insights into the behavior and benefits of the buffalo in landscape maintenance.

The use of animals to maintain the landscape is a long -term tradition that has proven to be extremely effective. Water buffalos in particular prove to be valuable helpers by promoting ecological balance through their feeding behavior. By removing excessive plant growth, you create habitat for different plant species and offer amphibians important spawning spaces. The buffalo thus actively contribute to biodiversity and the preservation of the landscape.

The project on the Tegeler, which has been running since 2015 and was rewarded with an award for biological diversity in 2019, impressively shows the positive effects of grazing through water buffalos. Participation in the excursion is free and offers a unique opportunity to experience the impressive animals in action.

The tour starts at 11 a.m. at the Waidmannslust S-Bahn station on the platform and ends in Alt-Tegel after four hours. However, the event is not barrier -free, so they are asked to caution.
