Berlin-Mitte becomes the largest sharing zone for micromobility: Jelbi creates 216 locations
The district councilor for order, environment, nature, streets and green spaces, Dr. Almut Neumann recently published a press release in which she announced the creation of the largest sharing zone for micromobility in Berlin-Mitte. In cooperation with Jelbi and BVG, over 100 storage areas have been built in well -known places such as Alexanderplatz, Unter den Linden and the Brandenburg Gate in the past ten months. There are now a total of 216 jelbi locations throughout Berlin that offer a comprehensive infrastructure for micromobility.
The newly created sharing zone comprises 70 jelbi points and around 30 signposted parking spaces for micromobility in the Mitte district. These offer space for more than 2,000 vehicles and should ensure a clear structure and organization. Users find all 200 meters of access to two -wheelers, which is a practical and sustainable addition to local public transport. In addition, a 3.5 square kilometer virtual parking zone between the jelbi points was set up to ensure that vehicles are only parked on the designated areas.
District Councilor Dr. Almut Neumann emphasized the importance of the new parking zone as a protective measure for pedestrians, especially for the elderly and people with vision restrictions. In addition, special measures were taken at three jelbi points to improve accessibility, including the installation of tactical components for visually impaired people.
Sabina Kusmin-Tyburski, Head of Information and Sales Technology at BVG, praised the cooperation with the district and emphasized the importance of the new parking zone for more efficient and environmentally friendly urban mobility. The Jelbi areas were financed by the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment.
With Jelbi as a BVG mobility platform, Berliners have over 70,000 vehicles of various forms of mobility available via a single app. The integration of bus, railway, rentals, e-mopeds, e-scooters, rental cars and taxis makes Jelbi a comprehensive solution for mobility needs in Berlin.
The effective cooperation between the district and Jelbi enabled the approval of the locations within a few months. In the case of incorrectly parked vehicles, there is the possibility to report this to the provider via the website www.jelbi.de/ registration. All Berlin park rules are available on the Jelbi website and are also displayed in the jelbi app.
