according to a report by www.berlin.de Received the amount of 3.27 million euros from the federal program "National Projects of Urban City" for the House of Statistics. In addition, the state of Berlin will provide another 1.63 million euros for the project. These funding is used for the repair of the building and the new construction of around 65,000 m² to create space for affordable apartments, art, culture, social affairs and education. The project also includes the construction of a new town hall for the Mitte district and other municipal administrative uses. Special attention is paid to the ground floor surfaces, which are designed as flexible room offers with open interfaces between indoor and outdoor areas.

The parliamentary State Secretary Elisabeth Kaiser emphasized that the House of Statistics, with its diverse initiatives and projects, made a significant contribution to the development of the Berlin Mitte. The federal program "National Projects of Urban Surround" supports the model development, which enables a wide mix of living, business, art, education and culture. The preservation and expansion of the building stock also promotes sustainable building and conversion.

The Senate construction director Prof. Petra Kahlfeldt thanked for the funding and called her a sign of appreciation for the common good model project on Alexanderplatz. It emphasized the importance of the ground floor areas, which are supposed to act as a business card of the building and create urban life and urbanity. Together with partners in the Mitte district, BIM Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH, the WBM Wohnungsbaugesellschaft Berlin-Mitte MBH and the BERGEN EC meeting, the House of Statistics will provide impulses for a new form of cooperative urban development.

District City Councilor Ephraim Gothe welcomed the support from the federal government and emphasized that every common good -oriented use would contribute to the development in the commercial center situation on Alexanderplatz.

The House of Statistics is an open and collaborative project in which public networking meetings for interested people have been taking place since the beginning of 2016. Since September 2018, the Haus der Statistik workshop has been available on site, where various formats are offered.

The funding will therefore help to make the house of statistics a living place, which combines living space, culture, education and administration and contributes to the further development of the Berlin center.
