Author talk in the middle of the museum: insight into the life of a survivor

The district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, informs about a author talk in the middle of the museum, in which book author Hermann Simon presents his mother's life on April 11th. In 1942, this withdrawn from the Gestapo and hid in Berlin until the end of the war. The unique story was recorded on 77 tapes and processed by her son in cooperation with Irene Stratenwerth to a book.

Hermann Simon, historian and founding director of the “New Synagogue Berlin - Centrum Judaicum” foundation, will speak together with other personalities about the creation and meaning of the book. The author talk will take place on April 11, 2024 in the Mitte Museum in Berlin and offers interested listeners the opportunity to learn more about this moving story.

Furthermore, an English-language book club is launched in the Berlin-Mitte city library, which meets every second Wednesday of the month from April. On the first appointment on April 10th, 2024, Kazuo Ishiguro's novel "The Remains of the Day" will be discussed. The workshop is managed by Neil Bristow and is aimed at participants with very good English skills.

In addition to the book presentation and the workshop, the Philipp-Schaeffer library from April 15th. The audio book exhibition "Hörgut Berlin-Mitte 2024" will take place until 7.6.2024. The exhibition offers a comprehensive overview of current audiobook productions of around 40 publishers, including readings, radio plays and expert audiobooks for children and adults. Events with prominent speakers are offered, including readings by Konstantin Gradus, Sema Poyz, Hasan H. Taşgın and Felix von Manteuffel.
