20 Years of Kunstverein Tiergarten: Anniversary exhibition Re: Vision opened
Revolution in the art sector: New life for the North Gallery and Gallery Wedding
The summer of 2024 will go into the annals for Berlin art life as a turning point. Two significant exhibitions are in the house that put both the local art scene and the commitment of the communities for the foreground. Particularly noteworthy is the long -awaited anniversary exhibition of the Kunstverein Tiergarten, which embodies innovative approaches in the exhibition design and in the presentation of works of art.
anniversary exhibition in the North Gallery
The project Re: Vision, which takes place in the municipal gallery north from September 14 to October 26, 2024, will be a special homage to the diverse artistic cooperation in the past two decades. 1303 artists who have exhibited their works there in the past 20 years have been invited to participate in a unique publication. This publication is exhibited in the form of an interactive room book installation, which was designed by the Berlin artist Marten Schech.
A central feature of this exhibition is that the audience is actively involved in the exchange process. Through the (surrounding) leaves of the books, visitors can interact with the artists and exchange their own artistic works as a loan. In this process, the traditional role of the curator is questioned and new, dynamic collaborations between artists and audiences are promoted. At the opening on September 13, prominent personalities from the cultural scene will speak to appreciate this creative manifesto.
commitment and community in the Wedding gallery
At the same time, the exhibition "Rundhalle" will be opened in the Wedding gallery on September 13th. This exhibition shows the portraits of people who actively work for their community. The artist Raquel van Haver documented the stories and faces of these committed citizens during her stay in Wedding. Her work, including a large mural, celebrate the often invisible commitment of the neighborhood and emphasize the importance of community work.
A highlight of this exhibition is the artistic concept that transforms the room into a platform for interactive and community -building experiences. Van Haver is supported by Chie Marquart-Tabel, who also makes an important contribution with her work on identity and belonging. This exhibition will be shown by November 17, 2024 and places a strong focus on the importance of engagement in urban rooms.
cultural enrichment and education
In parallel to these developments, the Jacoby & Stuart publishing house presents an extensive collection of children's and youth books in the Philipp-Schaeffer library between September 30 and November 22, 2024. With a broad program that includes both classic and newer works, the importance of promoting reading and cultural education is emphasized for young generations. These three events impressively show how art and culture can act as promoting factors in communities. They not only offer platforms for artistic forms of expression, but also strengthen the connection between the actors and the residents of Berlin. While the exhibitions in the municipal galleries create an ambience of participatory work, the library relies on education and reading promotion to support the creative development of the children. This illustrates how crucial access to art and culture is for the development of a community.
Further information on the exhibitions are available on the respective websites of the North Gallery and the Wedding Gallery and the Jacoby & Stuart publisher.
