Together of cultures: Free music series on Leopoldplatz
The Café Leo on Leopoldplatz in Berlin Mitte will become a melting pot of cultures and sounds in the coming weeks. Under the patronage of the district mayor Stefanie Remlinger, six duo concerts and readings take place here that combine various music cultures and create a place of encounters.
Intercultural encounters through music and literature
From September 3 to October 8, 2024, musicians and readers will perform in the Café Leo and create new soundscapes in a unique musical interaction. The concerts that take place every Tuesday afternoon are designed by artists from different countries who exceed stylistic limits and stand for diversity.
In addition to musical performances, readings are also offered that deal with Berlin, Wedding and its eventful history. Employees of the “Sprüfbrett” project present children's stories in the languages of Arabic, Ukrainian and German, while other readings present poems by Mascha Kaléko and stories about life in Wedding.
A place of community and exchange
The concerts are free of charge and take place outdoors, so that all people are invited to take part in Leopoldplatz. The concert series is intended to revitalize the space, resolve anonymity and strangeness and the curiosity of the diversity of people in the area are aroused.
The series of events is supported by the district office in Mitte from Berlin from the fund of the Berlin security summit. The Café Leo, an award -winning café with a social mission, is a place of encounter and social engagement.
