with the Germany ticket to the Baltic Sea: This expects passengers
The demand for trips to the Baltic Sea is great, especially during the summer vacation. According to a recently carried out survey on behalf of the Berlin Sparkasse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania remains the most popular domestic dining m. 33 percent of the respondents want to travel there and enjoy the Baltic Sea beaches. Many holidaymakers use the connections to the regional train, especially since the introduction of the Germany ticket in April.
However, there is already a high capacity utilization of the trains. The Berlin-Brandenburg Verkehrsverband (VBB) reports on an even greater demand for the Baltic Sea, especially the start of the holiday. As a result, absolute tips cannot be ruled out in the passenger numbers.
However, there are differences compared to last summer. The trains are currently well frequented, but not overcrowded. Last year, on the other hand, there were repeated reports about trains that could no longer record any other passengers due to the then valid 9-euro ticket. Individual lanes even had to be cleared.
These situations have so far been avoided this year because the offer has now grown. With the commissioning of the Elbe-Spree and Lusatia networks, the capacity on the rail was increased by around 30 percent. As a result, there is now more space and comfort for passengers on the way to the Baltic Sea.
The number of connections between Berlin and the Baltic Sea has also been increased in recent months. Since the end of May, for example, there has been an amplifier train that drives from Berlin-Südkreuz to Stralsund. This connection exists throughout the summer. An additional pair of train has also been used since the end of May that drives from Stralsund to Angermünde and back on weekends and public holidays.
In general, various places on the Baltic Sea from Berlin can be reached with the regional train. The RE3 line leads in a good three hours after Stralsund, while the RE5 line leads over goods (Müritz) to Rostock. The trip to the Hanseatic city takes about 2 hours and 40 minutes, from there you need another 20 minutes by S-Bahn to Warnemünde. With the RE8 line, passengers also reach Wismar. For passengers, it is advisable to find out about possible construction work on the routes in advance. Failures on sections have been announced on individual holidays. Therefore, passengers have to switch to S-Bahn. It is also recommended to forego your own bicycles due to the limited space in the trains and instead use bicycle lenders at the holiday resort. This ensures a relaxed journey for everyone involved.
