Minister leaves questions open - scandal about fake climate projects in China draws further circles
Weisgerber/shepherd: Environment Minister Avoid scandal about fake CO2 projects
The Federal Environment Minister is still under pressure after the environmental committee has dealt with the irregularities in climate protection projects in China. However, she refused to ask the committee's questions. This shows a lack of respect for the parliament, according to the opinion of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group.
The Federal Environment Agency should have become aware of irregularities in the climate projects in China much earlier. The fact that this was not the case shows significant control failures. The Federal Environment Minister is responsible for this. It was known that there were suspected cases, but the ministry's reaction took place much too late. The minister must ensure that no fake CO2 credits are traded.
The strategy of the Federal Environment Ministry is obviously to brash blatant omissions and to conduct damage limitation. The Federal Environment Agency suspended an employee who was responsible for the approval of the climate projects as a peasant victim. However, it remains to be seen whether this employee is involved in the fraud scandal. The investigation by the Berlin public prosecutor will show this.
The CDU/CSU parliamentary group is committed to the representative of the Middle People's Parties in the parliament for freedom, cohesion, personal responsibility and the Christian image of man. It supports a strong freedom-democratic constitutional state, the social and ecological market economy as well as the agreement of Europe.
