Hasso Plattner million investments: Potsdam blooms in the art gloss!

Potsdam, Deutschland - Hasso Plattner, the co -founder of the software company SAP, continues his generous investments in the city of Potsdam. The latest projects include the comprehensive renovation of the historical "Kremlin" on the Brauhausberg and the construction of a new university campus. The investment amount for these projects is estimated on a three -digit million sum. Plattner, who has been an honorary citizen of Potsdam since 2017, sees himself as a patronage for science and art and emphasizes a special focus on the training of youth.

In recent years, he has already invested over 20 million euros in the reconstruction of the historical facade of the Potsdam state parliament and the copper roof. In 2017, Plattner also provided 60 million euros for the reconstruction of the Palais Barberini, which is now a respected museum of impressionist art. In 2022 he acquired the ruin of the former Hotel Minsk and invested around 20 million euros to convert it into a place for GDR art.

Construction of the new university campus

The latest initiative of the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), which Plattner founded at Griebnitzsee over 20 years ago, will include the establishment of a new campus on the Brauhausberg. This campus, which is financed with the help of his foundation by 2035, provides for an enlargement of the HPI, which is intended to increase the number of students from 1,000 to 2,000 and the number of professorships from 34 to 70. It is important that no tuition fees are collected, which Plattner describes as one of his central premises.

Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke called the renovation of the site on the Brauhausberg a closure of a “structural wound” in the urban area. Plattner himself has emphasized several times that he has made a lot of money available for non -profit purposes in 2003 since retiring from SAP.

foundation and commitment

The Hasso Plattner Foundation is also involved in various areas such as science, education, art, culture, social affairs and nature conservation. However, conventional grants are not aimed at individuals or individual projects. Plattner's foundation also relies on the publicity of the public for digital threats, especially phishing and social engineering. It is recommended to carefully check supposed communication and avoid suspicious web links. The foundation and the Plattner family will never ask for personal or confidential information to promote the security of individuals and communities.
