Qualmt back house saved: Fire brigade saves five people in Spandau
On Wednesday, the fire brigade managed to save five people from a heavily smoky back house in Spandau. Due to the strong smoke development, three of the rescued with escape hoods had to be brought to safety. It turned out that the fire in the basement of the house in Feldstrasse was caused by arson.
The incident occurred when a tenant noticed the smoke at around 1:24 a.m., which penetrated through the cracks of his apartment door. The fire brigade was alerted and moved out with 28 emergency services. Eight firefighters with pressing air atmakers brought the affected tenants out of their apartments. Three of them were brought to safety due to the strong smoke development with hoods. A total of 26 residents were evacuated and then examined and looked after in a fire brigade bus.
The investigation into serious arson was handed over to the fire commissioner of the State Criminal Police Office (LKA).
