Rendezvous with Molière: Musical reading in the district central library Mark Twain

A special evening in the district central library “Mark Twain”

On Friday, June 28, 2024, the music library invites you to a unique cultural event. The musical reading “Rendezvous with Molière” takes place at 8:00 p.m. in the foyer of the district central library "Mark Twain" in Berlin. The program promises a fascinating connection between literature and music.

The famous figure of the French satirist Jean-Baptiste Molière is the focus of the event. The reading is based on the key novel “The Life of Mr. de Molière” by Mikhail Bulgakov. This literary interpretation throws a new light on both authors and their time.

Molière was a comedy poet in the 17th century who was despised by many contemporaries due to his critical works. Bulgakov himself, who lived in the 1930s, had had similar experiences. Despite the persecution by the Soviet government, he found protection and recognition. The parallels between the two artists are fascinating and offer a deeper insight into their works.

The musical accompaniment of the evening is carried out by French baroque music, which is performed by the talented recorder Henriette Jüttner-Uchlich and Ute Metzkes. They are accompanied by the actor Martin Laubisch, who will bring the text excerpts from Bulgakow's novel to life.

To take part in this unique event, registration by phone is required by (030) 54704142 or by email. Admission is free, but donations to the Förderverein Stadtbibliothek will be happy to accept Marzahn-Hellersdorf e.V. to support the event.

Experience an evening full of literature, music and culture in the district central library “Mark Twain”. Immerse yourself in the world of Molière and Bulgakow and let yourself be inspired by the unique connection of words and sounds.
