New learning rooms for the primary school on Schleipfuhl: Modular construction opened

new perspectives for education in Marzahn-Hellersdorf

The recent progress in Berlin's education policy is shown by the ceremonial opening of a modular supplementary building made of wood at the primary school on Schleipfuhl. This building symbolizes the efforts to meet the growing demands of the school landscape in the region. Under the motto of modern and sustainable construction, the use of wood not only pursues an environmentally friendly approach, but also tries to create an appealing learning environment.

The construction was opened on an important day in 2023, where numerous local decision -makers were present. Katharina Günther-Wünsch, the Senator for Education, Youth and Family, symbolically handed over the key to Hendrik Zeidler, the headmaster. This event marks an important step in the development of the primary school, which in the past had to fight with extremely cramped conditions and temporary solutions.

The importance of the modular supplementary structure is underpinned by the need for the spatial relief. The number of students in Marzahn-Hellersdorf has increased significantly in recent years, which the school presented with considerable challenges. The new timber construction, also referred to as Holz-MEB, enables the school to finally adapt its capacities to real needs and to create ideal conditions for learning and teaching.

An outstanding feature of the new building is the green roof, a sign of modern ecological approaches in school construction. This concept not only promotes environmental friendliness, but also a healthy learning atmosphere for the children. The rooms are light and modern, which should promote the motivation and creativity of the students.

The local community will also benefit from this building. District Mayor Nadja Zivkovic emphasized the importance of such projects for the development of the district. She expressed the desire that the elementary school on Schleipfuhl would be a place of renewable encounters and creative learning. This shows the connection between educational institutions and the joint development of a district.

Stefan Bley, the district councilor, also praised the past work of the school and the achievements of dealing with difficult conditions. He emphasized that the initiatives to increase the school capacity during the renovation have contributed significantly to the stability of education in the region.

With the opening of the new modular supplementary construction, Berlin shows how important it is to invest in educational institutions in order to enable future generations to make the best starting conditions. Good schooling is the key to positive social development and promoting talents. It remains exciting to observe how deeply educational offers and modern infrastructure increase the likelihood that children can fully exploit their potential.
