Piano evening with Maiko Mine: Rachmaninow and Chopin in the heart of Berlin
piano evening in Berlin: Musical bridge between cultures
On 6. September 2024 at 8:00 p.m. the district central library "Mark Twain" in Berlin-Marzahn, located on the Marzahner Promenade 55, opens the doors for a special cultural event. That evening the masterpieces of classical music are brought to life by the Japanese pianist Maiko Mine.
The event, which focuses on the compositions of Sergei Rachmaninow and Frédéric Chopin, is more than just a concert. It shows the ability of music to cross borders and combine different cultures. Both Rachmaninov and Chopin referred to the tradition of Johann Sebastian Bach in their Préludes, which makes the event an interesting melting pot of musical influences.
The program focuses on the famous 24 Préludes of Chopin, known for their technical virtuosity and emotional depth, as well as the less known but also fascinating Préludes by Rachmaninow. Chopin's “raindropsprélude” will certainly be a special highlight of the evening, as there is a deep insight into the artist's compositional talent.
Maiko Mine, who studied at the renowned University of the Arts in Tokyo and at the University of Music and Theater in Rostock, has made a name for herself through her participation in international competitions and impresses with her appearances in Germany and Japan. Her ability to combine different styles makes her an ideal ambassador for classical music.
The accessibility of the piano evening is supported by the free admission, whereby a donation is requested to the Förderverein Stadtbibliothek Marzahn-Hellersdorf e.V. in order to be able to offer such events in the future.
