Heimatverein presents a new historical yearbook Marzahn-Hellersdorf

The Heimatverein Marzahn-Hellersdorf e.V. presented the 4th volume of the “Historical Yearbook Marzahn-Hellersdorf” for the years 2022/2023 on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. This edition is a double band, since no edition could be published in the previous year due to corona -related aftermath. The richly illustrated band comprises approximately 230 pages and contains twelve contributions to the settlement history of Marzahn from 1900 until the development of the large settlement. In addition, the continued “Chronicles for the years 2021 and 2022” are included, which are chronologically present in the district.

The yearbook can be purchased for 15 euros (double edition) in the bookstores in Mahlsdorf and Kaulsdorf from March 2024. Alternatively, it can also be ordered from the Marzahn-Hellersdorf district museum or from the Heimatverein by email to Claas.reise@gmail.com.

The individual contributions in the yearbook deal with various topics on the history and development of Marzahn-Hellersdorf. Different aspects are examined from the settlement activity in the Marzahn district after 1900 to the history of LPG Marzahn to the postal history of Berlin-Kaulsdorf. Biesdorf Castle, Theodor-Fliedner-Heim and the Center Marzahn are also mentioned in the articles.

The publication of historical yearbooks like this serves to preserve and make the cultural heritage of a region accessible. The compilation of specialist contributions and chronicles deepens the knowledge of local history and made available to those interested and researchers. These publications help to raise awareness of the importance of the past for the present and future.
