Give the past: Digitization of Nazi documents on September 26, 2024!

Next Thursday, September 26, 2024, volunteers have the opportunity to take part in the digital participation campaign #everynamecounts. The event is organized as part of the Berlin volunteer days by the Marzahn-Hellersdorf volunteer agency in cooperation with the Arolsen Archives. The main goal of this crowdsourcing initiative is to preserve information about the victims of National Socialism in order to make it accessible to subsequent generations.

The campaign offers volunteers the opportunity to actively participate in memory and processing of the Nazi era from home. By reading and digiting documents, the participants can make an important contribution to completing the digital monument. The Arolsen Archives have already processed over 6 million documents, but there are still 24 million documents that rely on the support of volunteers.

The participants receive an introduction to the project on the day of the event and are accompanied by video chat. Further information on registration and participation can be found on the website of the volunteer agency Marzahn-Hellersdorf.

The #Everynamecounts campaign is part of the Berlin volunteer days, which take place annually and encourage citizens to actively work for the common good. It is an opportunity to make a major contribution to the culture of memory through small deeds and to promote respect, diversity and democracy. Let us keep history together and create a better future for everyone. Further details on the campaign and registration can be found on the website of the volunteer agency Marzahn-Hellersdorf.
