man dies after police operation in Friedrichshain
On Tuesday there was a tragic incident in Friedrichshain, in which a man died after a police operation. So far, the public prosecutor has not found any evidence of criminal behavior of the officials involved.
According to a joint statement by the police and the public prosecutor, the incident occurred in Stralauer Allee. The 39-year-old man is said to have rioted in a nearby shop around noon and bothered other people. He then entered a construction site where he "talked confused and threw the bag of a witness into a water." He also stated that he consumed heroin and ecstasy.
The called up police officers brought the man to the ground and captivated him after he had complained about shortness of breath. When his condition deteriorated, the bonds were solved and first aid was provided. An emergency doctor was also alerted. Despite the resuscitation measures and the relocation to a hospital, only the death of the man could be determined there.
The autopsy of the body has so far not been evidence of any evidence or an external negligence from the police as the cause of death. This was also confirmed by witnesses, as the police said. Legal medical studies to determine the exact cause of death are still underway, as a spokesman for the Berlin public prosecutor's office told T-Online.
It remains to be seen whether further information about this tragic incident will come to light. The investigation by the public prosecutor's office is still running to clarify possible causes and responsibilities.
