Maki uses turtle as a taxi - excitement in the Berlin Tierpark!

In the Berlin zoo, a curious incident causes great excitement among animal lovers. A video that was shared by the Facebook page "Friends of the Hauptstadtzoo" shows a red belly maki that is relaxed on the back of a radiation turtle. Such scenes inspired the audience, but also caused concerns. Some are wondering whether the turtles are not overloaded because the Makis can supposedly weigh up to 3 kilograms. The animal park spokeswoman Hanja Runge calms the minds towards Berlin and emphasizes that the robust turtles can carry this without problems.

an unusual "taxi" in the zoo

This animal collaboration is not new, because the red belly makis and radiation turtles have been shared by an enclosure for some time. It is not uncommon for the playful monkeys to use the turtles as a kind of "taxi" to get through the enclosure. Despite the unusuality of the situation, the turtles seem to be quite satisfied in their new winter quarters with the Makis, which Runge describes as positive for both animal species.

The interaction between the different animal species not only promotes the natural behavior of the animals, but also offers visitors a varied experience. By living in different types in an enclosure, the animals get additional stimuli that enrich their lives. This socialization offers a more realistic insight into the habitat of the animals and enables guests to observe entertaining scenes such as the turtle taxi. The zoo remains not only the place of entertainment, but also of education about the behavior and way of life of the animals, as on the official website of the Zoo Berlin
