Is further training to become a specialist IHK? New study with graduates provides answers

According to a new study by the Zumfachwirt training company, the temporal and financial investment in this advancement training has paid off. The study interviewed a total of 815 graduates and for the first time provides insights into the effects of this further training on the career.
Further training as a specialist IHK is the most popular IHK training for working people in Germany. Every year, around 50,000 people successfully pass their exam at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK). There are different directions of this further training, including the business economist IHK and the commercial specialist IHK.
The study shows that the degree in the specialist is a valuable investment in your own career. 91 percent of the graduates surveyed stated that further training was worth it for them. 60 percent received a salary increase shortly after the exam, 11 percent even more than 750 euros per month. A third of the graduates were promoted and a quarter switched to another company or another industry.
In order to complete further training as a specialist, the participants have to invest money and time. According to the study, 74 percent of the respondents have completed the training alongside a full -time job, while 21 percent also took care of their children. Many participants received financial support, especially from the promotion BAföG. Some employers also adopted the costs of further training in whole or in part. The study also compares various learning formats, from presence courses to video remote courses with self -determined time. It was found that the consent to video remote courses is significantly higher. Many graduates appreciated the free time, the location independence and the attributable travel times and costs. Classic long -distance courses with learning books, on the other hand, were less preferred.
