Delivery problems for passports cause trouble before vacation time
A late sequence of the delivery bottleneck before the summer holidays: overloaded citizens' offices and high costs for expression passes
The upcoming vacation time not only brings anticipation, but also a lot of stress for many citizens in Brandenburg and Berlin. The German Cities Day has complained of massive delivery problems of the federal printing house when exhibiting passports, which leads to considerable frustration. According to the managing director Helmut Dedy, the waiting time for the delivery of the passports has increased dramatically and can be up to eight weeks instead of the usual two weeks.
A particularly annoying aspect of this delay is the fact that many people are forced to make a second application for an expression fun in order to hold the required passport in your hands in good time before your vacation. This leads to double costs for the citizens, since the first application cannot be canceled. With a total of more than 100 euros per person, expenses for a new passport and express processing are considerable in addition to the costs already incurred for the first application.
In view of this situation, the German Cities Day calls for reimbursement for the first application and the cancellation option of the first order if a second pass is requested with express processing. This would not only relieve the citizens, but also the Federal Printing, since cancellation would not overload the production capacities. It remains to be hoped that the responsible Federal Ministry of the Interior will quickly be to remedy this grievance and to enable the citizens to apply smoothly before the summer vacation.- Nag
