City walks in Lichtenberg: Women in resistance to National Socialism

In July 2024, the round table for political education in Lichtenberg will organize several thematic city tours under the motto "We want to remind you? City walks to women in resistance to National Socialism, anti -Semitism and public commemoration". These city tours should invite the street names and public honors in connection with National Socialism to exchange critically.

The planned city walks include three appointments. On Friday, July 5th, a tour will take place in Rummelburg, in which the athletes Käthe and Klara Tucholla and Brunhilde Prelen will be discussed in the worker: internal resistance. Rummelsburg was a center of the organized workers' movement in the Weimar Republic and housed resistance groups during the Nazi era.

On Tuesday, July 9th, the resistance of Else Runge in a national conservative environment is illuminated in Karlshorst. Although Karlhorst was traditionally national conservative, there was also resistance to National Socialism, as in the case of Else Runge, an active communist.

On Monday, July 15th, Hohenschönhausen will be explored, where Margarete Rossignol hid hidden. Despite political differences, this district was also shaped by resistance, in particular Margarete Rossignol, who provided hiding places for persecuted.

The speaker will be Schünke-Bettinger on all walks. Interested parties can register by email at mitmachen@licht-blicke.org. Further information is available on the website of the anti -Semitism officer of the district office.

These city tours offer a way to take a closer look at locally relevant stories of resistance to National Socialism and throw a light on the importance of culture of remembrance in various parts of Berlin. Participation in such events can help to raise awareness of the history and need to memory of past events.
