City library Lichtenberg: Saturday opening until 6 p.m.
The four locations of the Lichtenberg City Library will also be open to visitors in 2024 Saturday until 6 p.m. This enables families to visit a relaxed library with enough time to read, play or simply spend a time together. Schoolchildren and working people also have the opportunity to use the library that day, be it to learn, work or simply to browse in cozy reading corners.
The library specialist will be present at the locations until 1 p.m. Even after this time, it is possible to rental the media, make returns and pay fees - but only through special machines. Some services, such as new registrations, are then no longer possible.
District Mayor and City Councilor Martin Schaefer (CDU) expressed very positive about the extended opening hours and emphasized that they were well received. The continuation of the Saturday opening by 6 p.m. enables valuable family and education time, creative contacts and space for cultural educational offers.
The concept of the service -free opening of the libraries on weekends was tested in 2023 as part of the "Network of Heat" initiative and evaluated as successful. In addition to the opening times, there will also be various cultural events and activities in the cooler season, including handicrafts and hands-on activities, concerts as well as movement offers for people of all ages.
Information about the planned program offers can be viewed on the website of the Lichtenberg City Library.
