Special meeting BVV Lichtenberg: Design from District member on June 27th planned
The district council (BVV) Lichtenberg von Berlin will hold a special meeting on Thursday, June 27, 2024. At the request of the SPD faction, this special meeting was convened, with regard to a joint application by the CDU parliamentary groups, the left, SPD and Bündnis90/The Greens. The reason for this special session is the advice on the election of the district member Kevin Hönicke (SPD) in the first reading. It is important to note that the deselection itself and a possible new election will not take place in this meeting, but in the next regular BVV on July 11, 2024.
The session will take place in the primary school on Tränsgraben at Sewanstraße 41, 10319 Berlin. The citizens have the opportunity to follow the conference in the live stream. It is expected that the discussion about Kevin Hönicke's deselection will cause controversy because it is a significant political event.
A look at the political history of the Lichtenberg district could provide information on how this special meeting and the possible deselection of a district member are historically unique. Lichtenberg has a rich history as a former district of East Berlin and was strongly shaped by political tensions during the German division. The decision on the deselection of a district member is therefore of particular public interest and could have long -term effects on the political landscape of the district.
It remains to be seen how the BVV special meeting will go and what discussions and developments will result from advice on Kevin Hönicke's deselection. The citizens of Lichtenberg will have the opportunity to either personally follow the process in the school at the Tränsgraben or use the live stream to stay up to date.
