In Berlin it is cleaned! Governing Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) praised the successful BVG cleaning strips and announced that it will expand the initiative to further subway lines. Since the beginning of the year, teams of cleaning staff and security employees have ensured that the U8, Berlin's notorious “dirty line”, becomes more inviting again. "Security and cleanliness have a top priority for us," said Wegner at Alexanderplatz underground station. A recently carried out survey showed that 76 percent of passengers feel safer and cleaner since the new teams have been in use. BVG boss Henrik Falk said: "Nothing was shortened in the household rounds"-the BVG thus optimizes its funds at no additional cost.
Expansion of cleaning measures
How the Berliner Zeitung , the cleaning measures are now also reported on the U5 between Alexanderplatz and Lichtenberg as well The U7 between Neukölln and Yorckstraße extended. The BVG has significantly increased the safety and cleaning stands: 70 percent of the 50 percent more cleaning services come. Regardless of the limited budget, the previous measures have already shown significant success. The BVG also plans innovative approaches, such as direct contact via WhatsApp for passengers who want to point out problems.
But that's not all: the Kottbusser Tor train station should serve as a sample location for new security measures. Among other things, music and improved technologies are used here to increase the feeling of security and to defuse drug -related problems at this tricky hub as part of a pilot project. "We don't just want to throw out homeless people and drug users," said Falk, while at the same time helping offers and social work. This wants to find a balance between security and humanity in order to create a safe and clean environment in Berlin's subway system.
