Topping-out ceremony for sustainable daycare in Berlin-Lichtenberg
On January 17, 2024, the topping-out ceremony for a new daycare center in Ruschestraße 80 took place in 10365 Berlin-Lichtenberg. The new facility will offer space for up to 130 children and is scheduled to open in April 2025. The three -storey new building was designed taking into account sustainability and is operated with district heating and solar energy. A photovoltaic system is also planned on the roof. The rooms for the daycare groups will lie on the noise -facing south side, while other rooms and traffic areas are oriented towards the street.
District Mayor Martin Schaefer (CDU) praised the architects for coping with the challenge that the property represented, and emphasized the importance of the new daycare places for the growing district. District City Councilor Camilla Schuler (Die Linke) expressed her priority to create sufficient daycare places and emphasized the use of modern and sustainable technologies. The pedagogical managing director Sabine Radtke emphasized that the children in the new daycare center are viewed as a designer: on the inside of their world and that an educational concept of "artistic design" will be used. This includes art, language, theater, media and sensory materials.
