New repair café opens in Bodo Uhse library
On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, the new repair café will open in the Bodo-Uhse library in Berlin-Friedrichsfelde. The repair café offers Lichtenbergers the opportunity to have their defective electronic household appliances, toys or clothing repaired free of charge. The project was created in cooperation between the Bodo-Uhse library and the Lichtenberg district office and is looked after by volunteer helpers.
The repair café should not only contribute to protecting the environment, but also expand knowledge and skills. District Mayor Martin Schaefer (CDU) emphasizes the importance of repairing and replacing know-how. Although there is no guarantee for the repairs, visitors can learn in a pleasant atmosphere how they can better use their devices and possibly repair themselves.
The repair café will be open every two weeks on Tuesdays from May 7, 2024. Interested parties can come by without prior registration and bring their items to repair. Further information is available in the library or can be requested by email.
