New modular supplementary construction MEB 22 for green campus Malchow in operation
The school Green Campus Malchow is expanding its capacities with the new modular supplementary construction (MEB 22) at Doboberaner Straße 53-58. With 330 new school places, the new building relieves existing buildings and is the second supplementary construction of the MEB 22 series in Berlin. The first building was built at the Barnim Gymnasium in Falkenberg and put into operation in August 2023.
The new four-story school building has 22 classrooms, eleven division rooms for group or individual work, as well as a 200 square meter cafeteria on the ground floor. All floors can be reached via an elevator, and the entire building is wheelchair accessible. There are also teaching rooms on floors 1-3 and corridors with seat niches for creative work. The school community was even able to decide the color selection of the corridors and stairwells as part of a participation process.
District City Councilor Filiz Keküllüoğlu (Bündnis 90/ Die Grünen) is pleased with the progress in the school building offensive in Lichtenberg. The green campus Malchow is a growing community school with a variety of educational offers. The expansion now offers more students the opportunity to take part in this school community.
The MEB 22 consists of prefabrication modules that are pre -produced in the plant and put together on the construction site. The construction period was about a year from the construction site handover and construction site equipment including the interior design. The budget was around 12.730 million euros, and the client was the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living in cooperation with the School and Sports Office of the Lichtenberg District Office, with the participation of the Environment and Nature Conservation Office and Facility Management.
Overall, the expansion of the Green Campus Malchow shows the efforts to catch the increasing number of students with modern and well -equipped school buildings.
