Neue Fahrradabstellanlage am S-Bahnhof Friedrichsfelde Ost eröffnet - Sicherheit und Komfort für Radfahrer

Am S-Bahnhof Friedrichsfelde Ost in Berlin wurde am Freitag, den 12. April 2024, eine neue gesicherte Fahrradabstellanlage eröffnet. The facility offers space for 24 bicycles and is located at an important hub in local public transport between the Lichtenberg and Marzahn-Hellersdorf districts. The opening took place in the presence of Lichtenberg's traffic councilor Filiz Keküllüoğlu, the district mayor of Marzahn-Hellersdorf Nadja Zivkovic and representatives of the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and Environment.

The bicycle storage facility is equipped with Parkyourbike, a booking, access and billing system developed by Infravelo. Cyclists can park their bikes in the collective closing system or the individual boxes after they have registered for Parkyourbike. The free trial operation runs until July 8, 2024, after which a fee of 70 cents per 24 hours is due. There is also the possibility to acquire monthly or annual tickets.

The secured bicycle storage facility at the Friedrichsfelde Ost S-Bahn station is part of a pilot project that provides for further locations at the Alt-Mariendorf and Wutzkyallee underground stations as well as at the Schönewide S-Bahn station. These systems are part of the city of Berlin's commitment to the expansion of a sustainable cycling infrastructure and the promotion of local mobility in connection with public transport.

The inauguration of the bicycle storage facility was positively rated by the local politicians and representatives of the transport administration. The people in the districts of Lichtenberg and Marzahn-Hellersdorf are thus given an attractive option to secure their bicycles near an important traffic junction. Due to the climate-friendly power supply using photovoltaic modules, the concept could also be implemented at other locations in Berlin to evaluate the use and utilization.
