Lichtenberger Women*week 2024: Motto against sexism

This year's “Lichtenberger Women*Week” takes place from Monday, 4th to Friday, March 8, 2024 and is under the motto “My body belongs to me - sexism is out!”. More than 30 clubs, organizations and initiatives from the district have put together a diverse program that includes workshops and events from the fields of art, culture, health, sport and education. The "Lichtenberger Women*Week" will live by the Lesbian family (Leslefam) e. V. organized together with the Lichtenberg district office.

Symbolical start of the event is the hoist of the flag for the "women*week" on Monday, March 4th at 10:30 a.m. at the Lichtenberg town hall. The women's plenum takes place at 4:00 p.m. in the Association for Active Diversity e. V. (VAV) on Ribnitzer Straße 1b, 13051 Berlin-Hohenschönhausen, and offers space for exchange, discussion and information.

District Mayor Martin Schaefer (CDU) commented on this as follows: "Sexism is a problem for society as a whole, where we as a district office, where we can, want to counteract decisively. In this respect, I very much welcome that the 'Lichtenberger Women*Week' takes up this topic and all as a society, but also as a district office as an employer, warns our homework. We do not tolerate him - not at events of the district office and in no way at work.

A highlight and at the same time the “women*week” is the awarding of the Lichtenberg women's award on Thursday, March 7, at 6:00 p.m. in the Kulturhaus Karlshorst. The admission is from 5:00 p.m. Afterwards there is a party in the Schostakovich Hall of the Karlshorst Music School.

Lesbian family (Leslefam) e. V. is an active association in Lichtenberg, which among other things operates the rainbow family center. Through networking and concrete offers, Leslefam wants to improve the social visibility and acceptance of lesbian women and their families.

This event has the potential to improve the social visibility and acceptance of lesbian women and their families in Lichtenberg. At the same time, the motto is "My body belongs to me - sexism is out!" an important social topic took up and discussed. The "Lichtenberger Women*Week" offers a variety of activities and events that help to strengthen the awareness of the rights and concerns of women.
