Joint experience for Lichtenberger first graders: Theater visit to strengthen the community

On September 4, 2024, an important cultural event was celebrated in the district of Lichtenberg for the newly trained children. The director of the "Theater an der Parkaue", Christina Schulz, handed over a donation check in the amount of 15,000 euros together with the district mayor Martin Schaefer. This sum should enable the around 3,800 first graders from the Hermann Gmeiner School and other primary schools in the district to take part in a free theater visit.

The theater visit, which will be organized for all school beginners this year, is more than just a leisure activity. The initiative is a sign of cultural participation and should offer all children the opportunity to get to know the world of theater, regardless of their origin. Martin Schaefer emphasized that this tradition, which is supported by Lichtenberger businesses, promotes social cohesion in the classes. It is a powerful experience that can form friendships and create valuable memories.

Christina Schulz said: "The theater offers access to strong stories and strengthens the personal development of the children. The first contact with the theater is invaluable and opens doors to art and culture." In addition to the theater visit, the first graders also receive a free library card that gives you access to the resources of the city library.
