Free theater visits for Lichtenberger first graders: a cultural gift
Joint experience for Lichtenberger first graders: Theater visit to strengthen the community
On September 4, 2024, an important cultural event was celebrated in the district of Lichtenberg for the newly trained children. The director of the "Theater an der Parkaue", Christina Schulz, handed over a donation check in the amount of 15,000 euros together with the district mayor Martin Schaefer. This sum should enable the around 3,800 first graders from the Hermann Gmeiner School and other primary schools in the district to take part in a free theater visit.
The theater visit, which will be organized for all school beginners this year, is more than just a leisure activity. The initiative is a sign of cultural participation and should offer all children the opportunity to get to know the world of theater, regardless of their origin. Martin Schaefer emphasized that this tradition, which is supported by Lichtenberger businesses, promotes social cohesion in the classes. It is a powerful experience that can form friendships and create valuable memories.
Christina Schulz said: "The theater offers access to strong stories and strengthens the personal development of the children. The first contact with the theater is invaluable and opens doors to art and culture." This statement underlines the importance of cultural institutions in the educational landscape and its influence on the personal development of young people.
In addition to the theater visit, the first graders also receive a free library card that gives you access to the resources of the city library. This measure not only strengthens reading skills and media literacy, but also promotes interest in literature and education. District City Councilor Sandy Mattes described this gift as valuable for the cultural participation and the development of every child's own creativity.
The CEO of the Hohenschönhausen-Lichtenberg Economic District, Karsten Dietrich, emphasized the importance of such cultural experiences: "A visit to the theater is more than just an excursion. It is joy and fascination that encourage children to love and appreciate stories." This perspective shows how important it is for the local economy to invest in education.
With the donation already achieved, many children in Lichtenberg are invited to experience the magic of the theater. The fundraising campaign continues to support even more children and to facilitate access to cultural offers.
The importance of such initiatives cannot be assessed highly enough. They form the foundation for social integration and the development of a strong sense of community. The "Theater an der Parkaue" acts not only as a cultural location, but as a space for joint learning, experience and discovering, especially for the youngest in society.
