Anniversary concert of the Schostakovich Music School in Berlin-Lichtenberg: Musical Diversity and 70 years of commitment
The Lichtenberg music school celebrates its 70th anniversary with an impressive concert
On Monday, September 23, the Berlin-Lichtenberg Music School will celebrate its 70th birthday with a great concert in the magnificent hall of the Philharmonie Berlin, Herbert-von-Karajan-Straße 1, 10785 Berlin.
The anniversary concert will present twelve ensembles who combine a total of 350 musicians on stage. Among them are a symphonic wind orchestra, an Asian ensemble, a large symphony orchestra, a big band, three different choirs and small and large string orchestras. The variety of music reflects the long history and cultural importance of the music school.
The evening is headed by the well-known moderator Ilja Richter, who was famous in the 1970s as a showmaster of the ZDF program "Disco". Richter, born in Berlin-Karlshorst, participates with great passion in the anniversary concert, which bears the name of the renowned composer Dmitri Schostakovich.
The district mayor Martin Schaefer (CDU) emphasizes the important role of music in human interaction and praises the Schostakovich music school as a place of musical encounter. He recognizes the long -time director Olaf Hengst for his commitment and congratulates the anniversary.
The history of the music school began in 1954 in Marktstraße 2-3 in Rummelburg when the council of the Berlin-Lichtenberg City District created a room for children to learn musical instruments. Under the first director Kurt Steinbeck, the folk music school started with 80 students. Today, 70 years later, the Schostakovich Music School is a highly valued facility with around 7,000 students, 180 teachers and several locations that bring people closer to music.
The anniversary concert not only promises a musical journey through various genres and cultures, but also a tribute to seven decades of musical education and enthusiasm.
