The district office Lichtenberg and the Bürgerverein Fennpfuhl e.V. invite you to a public reading on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., on a public reading with the topic "Against Forgetting-We Show Face" at Anton-Saefkow-Platz in Berlin. The reading is intended to commemorate the people who were pursued, abused and murdered during the resistance against National Socialism between 1933 and 1945.

The event is reminiscent of the execution of the resistance members Anton Saefkow, Franz Jacob and Bernhard Bästlein 80 years ago on September 18, 1944 in the Brandenburg-Görden prison. Prominent guests such as the district mayor Martin Schaefer, the politician Gesine Lötzsch, the actress Gina Pietsch and the interpreter Olaf Ruhl will take part in the approximately 90-minute reading, which ends with a wreath resolution. Entry to the reading is free and without prior notice.

District Mayor Martin Schaefer emphasizes the connection of the resistance group with the Fennpfuhl district and its values of peace, democracy and tolerance that should be recognized.

The public reading "Against the Forgetting" has a 15-year tradition in the Fennpfuhl district and commemorates the resistance group and other members with various events until May 2025. In addition, the brochure "Around the Fennpfuhl: Antifascists on everyone mouth" from 2006 was reissued as a neighborhood and is available in the Anton Saefkow library and all schools in the Fennpfuhl. The event is organized in cooperation with local initiatives and associations such as the Anton Saefkow Library and the Johann-Gottfried-Herder-Gymnasium. Visit the reading to remember the victims and set a sign against forgetting. Further information on the event can be found at www.berlin.de.
