art mile 2024 in the Weitlingkiez: one year full of creative diversity

From 13. September to October 13, 2024 , the Weitlingkiez in Lichtenberg becomes a hotspot for art and culture. The 11. Art mile not only attracts art lovers, but also creates a platform on which local talents and shops come together. This event shows how strong the neighborhood's commitment to creativity is and thus promotes the sense of community.

In this year's art mile, visitors can experience a wide range of art forms: from photography to painting to textile art and installations. These works are exhibited in shop windows and walls of local shops and social institutions. This establishes a unique connection between art and everyday life and gives the neighborhood a living flair.

The official opening, which takes place on Friday, September 13, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. in Café Weit.Blick at Archenholdstraße 25, 10315 Berlin, will be under the direction of the district mayor Martin Schaefer (CDU). He emphasizes the importance of this creative event: "The art mile has been a prime example of civic Engagement for eleven years and promotes cultural life in Lichtenberg. Art takes place where people come together."

Interested parties have the opportunity to take part in guided tours. Every Saturday at 2:00 p.m. a free tour starts on Münsterlandplatz, corner of Weitlingstraße. During these tours, the participants not only get to know the exhibited works, but also the creative minds behind it as well as the history of the art mile.

The organization of the art mile is in the hands of committed neighbors, who make a significant cultural contribution every year on a voluntary basis. With the finissage on 13. October at 2:00 p.m. in the Oskar | Volunteering agency ends this year's event and gives hope for an equally creative future.

The art mile is more than just an event; It is a visible sign of a lively community in which art and neighborhood life go hand in hand. It not only promotes local artists, but also enlivens the business and institutions of the neighborhood, which has a positive effect on the entire district.
