Bachfest Karlshorst: 300 years of Johannes Passion in Berlin-Lichtenberg
On March 24, 2024, the Paul-Gerhardt-Kirchengemeinde Lichtenberg invites you to the 1st Bachfest Karlshorst on March 24, 2024 on the 300th anniversary of the premiere of Johannes Passion by Johannes Passion by Johannes Passion by Johannes Passion by Johann Sebastian Bach. Lichtenberg's district mayor Martin Schaefer took over the patronage over the festival.
The music of Johann Sebastian Bach is considered huge, moving and an epitome of classical music. District Mayor Martin Schaefer emphasized the importance of Bach's music for Karlshorst and is already looking forward to the festival. The event begins at 10:00 a.m. with a choral service in the Karlshorster church, in which the focus of the Johannes Passion's chorals. Afterwards, an open-air program will be presented on the Johannes Festival Square in front of the Theater at 11:30 a.m.
choir singers from all over Berlin who are enthusiastic about Bach are invited to participate. A live podcast at 4:00 p.m. in the church offers an introduction to two cantatas, which will be the focus later at 6:00 p.m. in the concert. The concert at 6:00 p.m. in the church "Zur Happen Embassy" will present works such as the cantatas BWV 150 "after you, Lord, for me" and BWV 131 "I call from the deep call, sir, to you" as well as other pieces for choir and orchestra. The cantore and the studio chorus Karlshorst, vocal soloists and the excellent orchestra "Young Bach Ensemble Berlin" under the direction of Cornelia Ewald will appear.
