Libyer in Bernau: PLEAS against Israeli message unmasked!
In a dramatic commitment, German security authorities arrested a 28-year-old Libyer in Bernau near Berlin. The suspect is accused of having planned an attack on the Israeli embassy in Berlin. According to information from the federal prosecutor, the man in a chat expressed discussions about plans to take an attack on the message with a weapon. However, no weapon was found during a search of his apartment in an asylum seeker accommodation. In addition, an apartment in Sankt Augustin was searched in North Rhine-Westphalia, which is connected to a close relative that is currently considered a witness.
Federal Minister of Justice Marco Buschmann urgently warned of the increasing Islamist terror in Germany and emphasized that Israeli institutions in particular are often the goal of such attacks. The Israeli ambassador Ron Prosor thanked the security authorities for their efforts to ensure the security of the message. The arrested person is presented today to an investigative judge of the Federal Court of Justice in Karlsruhe, who is supposed to decide on his custody. The investigation by the Federal Prosecutor's Office shows that Islamistically motivated terrorism is one of the largest threats to Germany, with almost 500 of the more than 700 procedures opened last year that have this background.
