Leipzig and Berlin: 35 years of peaceful revolution in focus!

Prominent personalities are present, including the former civil rights activist Marianne Birthler and Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The historical protests are also intended in Berlin: at 6 p.m. there is a prayer in the Gethsemanekirche in Prenzlauer Berg, followed by an impressive ringing of bells. This church played a central role in the revolution when it served as a hub for information and organization.

On October 9, 1989, around 70,000 people came together in Leipzig and called for the decisive calls "no violence" and "we are the people" the attention of the security forces. These peaceful protests contributed significantly to the turn, which only culminated four weeks later with the fall of the wall.
