Criticism of the draft law on heart health: Federal psychotherapist chamber demands more comprehensive prevention measures
A new approach to promoting heart health by psychotherapists instead of just medication
With regard to today's hearing in the Federal Ministry of Health, the Federal Chamber of Psychotherapist (BPTK) has submitted a statement on the draft of a law on heart health. In doing so, she criticizes the insufficient prevention measures in the draft and restriction to the administration of medication."The use of statins, medication for smoking cessation and additional health examinations as prevention measures begins much too late. Proportion prevention and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle should be promoted by the draft law on heart health. Andrea Benecke, President of the BPTK. "What contributes to a healthy lifestyle has to be taught early on.
The BPTK also considers it a mistake that only organic risks for cardiovascular diseases with preventive measures are to be reduced in the draft of the speaker. "Stress, the inappropriate handling of stress and mental illnesses are also essential factors for cardiovascular diseases. It is therefore important that psychotherapists can finally make prevention recommendations," demands Dr. Benecke.
Furthermore, the BPTK decides that this draft of the speaker will override the basic principles of evidence-based medicine and that the structured method assessment of the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) should be avoided. It is unacceptable that the Federal Ministry of Health should be authorized to decide on the organization of health investigations and performance claims and to bypass the quality and economic requirement of SGB V and the proven structures of the G-BA.
The BPTK is determined with its statement on the draft of a law of a law to strengthen heart health. It calls for a holistic promotion of heart health, in which prevention measures are not limited to medication and psychotherapists can also issue prevention recommendations.
