Crisis coalition: FDP urgently demands economic turn!

Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner made it clear after the FDP economic summit in Berlin that the traffic light coalition urgently has to find common economic positions. In view of the current economic doldrums, the FDP demands "directional decisions", while Lindner emphasizes that fundamental problems such as low productivity growth and an inflexible labor market have to be tackled. While Lindner sees medium-sized companies as a priority, FDP parliamentary group leader Christian Dürr rejects government subsidies in the economic crisis and demands better location conditions for investments. However, specific solutions were not presented at the summit.

At the same time, an event with Olaf Scholz and business representatives took place in the Federal Chancellery, which focused on a new industrial policy agenda. Both meet aim to analyze the economic situation, but specific results were not planned. The traffic light coalition is faced with the challenge of closing billions in the household in 2025 until the decisive meeting of the budget committee in mid -November. Experts warn that in 2024 the second year in a row threatened with recession, and require extensive reforms for Germany. Employer president Rainer Dulger and other business representatives require a strategy that includes all economic sectors to secure the country's competitiveness.
