Kreuzberg celebrates: Carnival of Cultures in 2025 in full splendor!

on Pentecost weekend, from June 6 to 9, 2025, the annual Carnival of the cultures in Berlin. The event, which has set a sign of diversity and peaceful coexistence since 1996, attracted numerous visitors again this year. For the first time the highlight, the large parade, was held on Frankfurter Allee and Karl-Marx-Allee.

The district office Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg takes a positive balance of this year's security and regulatory measures. In a press release on June 11, the office emphasized that the general regulatory service with 15 employees and support from three police forces from the State Criminal Police Office were successful. The coordination between the security service, police and security services also worked smoothly.

extensive security measures

like karneval.berlin reported, strict security measures were taken to ensure the safety of the participants and spectators. These included around 1,300 police officers and special barrings to guarantee a smooth process. Visitors were asked to do without certain objects such as bicycles, large bags and alcoholic drinks to protect the festival and to ensure an orderly process.

The security measures also included the implementation of an emergency number for emergency services (112) and a police hotline of the police that was available during the festival. Mobile guards were positioned, among other things, at the hotspots of the event to ensure the safety of the participants.

event in village life

The carnival started on Friday with an international street festival at Blucherplatz in Kreuzberg, which was officially opened at 4 p.m. In the parade on Sunday, the highlight of the carnival, 68 groups with more than 4,000 players took part. The move started at 1:30 p.m. and pulled over a three-way route from the crossing Frankfurter Allee/Proskauer Straße to Karl-Marx-Allee/Berolina Straße. Visitors were pointed out not to enter the parade's medium strip because it represents a protected biotope.

The district office reports a total of 107 implemented motor vehicles in connection with traffic measures and numerous commercial controls. A total of 46 commercial controls were carried out, with 15 missing youth protection nearby. The event was consistently peaceful and without any noteworthy events.

a festival of diversity

The positive balance shows that the carnival of cultures in 2025 was a successful festival for everyone involved. In 2024, over 1.1 million people also celebrated the festival, with around 650,000 spectators participating in the move. This year there is hope to experience a similar level of diversity and harmony in the district. The carnival remains an important event that celebrates the cultural diversity of Berlin and promotes the coexistence of a wide variety of cultures.

For those responsible, it is clear: the carnival is not only a celebration, but also a strong signal for tolerance and the pursuit of a common life in diversity.
