In August 2025, the Lichtenberg district office, in cooperation with the Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR), is organizing the Kieztage, which offers a cost-effective and practical opportunity for residents to dispose of unwanted items. This initiative aims to promote urban cleanliness and prevent illegal dumping of waste in public spaces. District Councilor Filiz Keküllüoğlu from the Green Party speaks positively about the event, which offers citizens important support in dealing with waste.
The next neighborhood days will take place as follows:
- Donnerstag, 21.08.2025, von 13:00 bis 18:00 Uhr in Neu-Hohenschönhausen, Ahrenshooper Straße 12-16, Parkplatz gegenüber, 13051 Berlin.
- Donnerstag, 28.08.2025, von 13:00 bis 18:00 Uhr in Lichtenberg, Rutnikstraße 22-32, Parkplatz, 10367 Berlin.
Free disposal of bulky waste
On Kiez Days, residents can hand in bulky waste such as mattresses, furniture and electronics free of charge. Scrap wood and clothes are also accepted. What is particularly pleasing is the opportunity for citizens to offer their used but still usable items at the exchange and giveaway market that takes place at the same time. This offer, organized by BSR, promotes the recycling and reuse of materials.
The list of removable materials includes:
- Altholz
- Matratzen
- Elektrogeräte
- alte Möbel
- Textilien
However, some materials may not be submitted, including:
- Reifen
- Lacke und Farben
- Bauschutt
- Batterien
- kontaminiertes Holz
