Cooperation with radical rights: CDU basis in concern - membership vote as a solution?

Cooperation with radical rights: CDU basis in concern - membership vote as a solution?

cooperation with the radical right - disputed CDU endangers bourgeois majorities

The current survey showed that almost half of the CDU party members are open to working with the radical rights. This result should be understood as a clear warning signal. The decisions of the CDU party presidium, which rely on a clear separation, seem to pass the base. It is urgently needed that the CDU develops a new political understanding of itself in order to find political majorities in the middle again, especially with regard to the upcoming Bundestag election.

The members of the Free Voters have already voted on a clear demarcation to the radical edges in the run -up to the European elections. Over 92 percent of the members spoke out for a clear fire wall and want to continue the course of the political center. This shows that they urgently need reliable partners who want to work constructively in the future of Germany after the traffic lights. A CDU, which is disputed internally, endangers the view of a bourgeois majority.

The main focus should therefore now be on securing the bourgeois majorities and giving a voice to social cohesion. It is important that the CDU clarifies its own political orientation and cannot be influenced by radical currents.

It remains to be seen how the CDU will position itself with regard to these survey results and which course it will take. The result of the Bundestag election will show whether the CDU is able to secure the bourgeois majorities and to pursue a clear political line.
