The planned exhibition "of Love" in the RK gallery, which was originally supposed to take place from August 23 to November 13, 2024, was canceled. The vernissage, which was planned for August 22, 2024, will not take place.

The reason for the cancellation lies in a misunderstanding regarding the artistic objects, which only became known when the exhibition was built up. It turned out that the political attitude of the district office and the attitude of the artists deviated so much from each other that no agreement could be reached.

The district office emphasized that it would not be a place for an exhibition in which the "genocide in Gaza" is discussed without mentioning the atrocities of October 7, 2023. The freedom of art is out of the question, but the sensitivity to historical events must also be preserved.

The decision to cancel the exhibition shows the complexity and challenges that can occur in the field of art and politics. It also illustrates the importance of communication and understanding between different parties.

It remains to be seen whether and how the RK gallery will deal with similar situations in the future and how the cooperation between artists and political institutions can be improved in order to avoid such conflicts.
