Child protection seal from 2025: Safety in Berlin's sports clubs!
From next year, the Landesportbund Berlin will introduce the mandatory child protection seal for its member associations and associations. This decision was announced at the general meeting of the LSB Berlin, in which LSB President Thomas Härtel took part. He emphasized that it was of great importance to make sports clubs for safe places for children so that parents can trust their children with a good feeling. By June 30, 2025, the associations have to meet the six criteria to obtain the seal, otherwise a fee of 50 cents per association member under the age of 18 is due, such as rbb24 reported.
The criteria for the child protection seal include the appointment and training of child protection officers, mandatory training for all persons who work with children and adolescents, as well as regular reviews of the certificates of good conduct. After a successful application, the association receives the seal that is valid for five years before renewal is necessary. Friedhard Teuffel, director of the LSB, added that the seal from 2026 also represents a prerequisite for grants, which is stipulated in the funding agreement between the LSB and the Berlin Senate. This step considers Teuffel to be an important contribution to promoting a culture of looking in sports, as shown in the information of the LSB Berlin
