Children's protection angels on four paws: Berlin's winner for health engagement

In a magnificent ceremony in Berlin, the remarkable project "Children's Guardian Angel on Four Paws" was chosen as the radiant winner of the 2024 state competition for a healthy cooperation! Over 650 projects from all over Germany fought in this exciting competition for laurels for their commitment to health. The highlight of the evening? The best heads of the city and their moving work were duly celebrated.

Jacqueline Boy, the tireless founder of the "Children's Guardian Angel", leads therapy dogs in schools and hospitals together with her team. Every year they reach impressive 2,000 children with serious and chronically ill. "Our therapy dogs calm, comfort and give courage!" Says Jacqueline full of fervor. This commitment to the weakest of society even found a special appreciation by Berlin's health senator Ina Czyborra.

Special appreciation for extraordinary commitment

What makes this competition so important? According to reports, DAK-Gesundheit, with its concerns, is strong for the volunteers of the city. "Faces for a healthy coexistence" is the motto, and the overview of the huge projects is overwhelming!

The initiative of Sabrina Döring received second place with her project "Wellcome: practical help after birth". Your initiative supports freshly baked families in starting the new everyday life. The volunteers offer support and relieve them in a loving way.

The third place? The weekly "tablet talk-the pharmacy podcast", which shines with its easy-to-understand content around the pharmaceutical supply and draws attention to its fast-paced offer. "We show where the journey in medication is going!" Say Marie Rickmann and Tabea Biereder, who lovingly provide information.

Special prices for innovative projects

But the awards don't stop here! A special prize went to the courageous “Queer Care” project. Andreas Schütz has recognized the urgency of a diversity-sensitive approach and, as a nursing advisor, offers support for the LSBTIQ*community in nursing. "We create an environment in which respect and understanding for everyone prevails," he explains with conviction.

An impressive committee around DAK state chief Volker Röttsches and other important personalities was responsible for selecting and celebrating the winners. "Cohesion is the key to our society!" Emphasized Röttsches at the award ceremony.

In December a big surprise awaits us when a nationwide jury chose the federal winner - an honor to which all projects from all over Germany are burning! DAK health, one of the largest health insurance companies in Germany with 5.5 million insured persons, is proud to support and present this remarkable commitment.
